Avishag’s multidisciplinary PhD research demonstrates a novel approach that empirically examines the relationship between visual perception, emotions and the designed environment. Human physiological and mental responses that arose in various forms of virtual spaces were measured and quantified using virtual reality techniques, physiological sensors, brain sensors, and various methods of information analysis. Avishag Shemesh, a licensed architect, has accumulated her experience in planning public buildings, homes, neighborhoods, urban planning and more. Her research has been recognized as a pioneer in the field of aesthetic research in several journals in psychology and neuroscience, and recently also lectured at several international conferences on ‘EDRA’, ‘CAADRIA’, ‘RTC2020’ and more.
