An inventory is an evolving documentation system to identify and describe heritage resources, for the purpose of managing them and making decisions concerning their protection and conservation. Questions regarding heritage values, which resources are worthy of conservation, and how to manage the heritage, have shaped our approach to the inventories.

The lecture will examine how the development of information technologies and the changing approaches to heritage management have transformed inventories, shifting from the focus on individual monuments to the evaluation of complexes, from lists to information systems, and from regulations to integrative planning.
