Diarna

Graduation Project 2023

The Diarna project addresses the disintegration of the Moshav Porat community and investigates how new planning procedures can facilitate its reunification. The initial fracture within the community stems from the mismatch between their rural-agricultural environment in Israel and their previous experiences in Libya. This disconnection manifests in various aspects of life, including family structures, social cohesion, employment opportunities, education, and the outlook for the younger generation.

By examining the community’s history, I have identified a foundational logic that helped maintain their unity during their time in a foreign land. My planning approach aims to acknowledge these historical processes and propose diverse architectural strategies designed to mitigate disintegration and repair strained relationships within the contemporary context.
