Cleaning the beaches following the oil spill disaster

Following the oil spill disaster that has hit the shores of Israel in recent weeks, a group of students from the Landscape Architecture Program took part in a volunteer day to clean the beaches. The volunteers met at Students’ Beach in Tirat Carmel, accompanied by Professors Tal Alon-Mozes and Matanya Sack. Students were guided by volunteers from the Tirat Carmel Municipality and the Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel on topics such as the ecological ramifications of such a calamity on the sea and shores, proper courses of action, and the correct ways in which to remove toxic waste effectively and safely.
