Rural Renaissance

Graduation Project 2024

The project offers an antithesis to contemporary planning approaches, characterized by addressing different planning areas in a uniform and repetitive manner, without considering the unique characteristics and local culture of the community for which the planning is conducted. The research is based on the village of Majdal Shams, located in the northern part of Israel, on the Syrian-Lebanese border at the foot of Mount Hermon. It offers an alternative design for the proposed development plan for the village – the “New Majdal” plan. The project utilizes local physical and cultural values to create housing, employment, and tourism solutions tailored to the unique needs of the area and community.
