[Pro]active architecture - Citizenship | Society | Economy Studio
2025
The studio serves as an experimental urban laboratory for critiquing and rethinking the local reality. It emphasizes the role of architecture as an agent of change and offers an experience in architecture as a civic act. The work in the studio offers a critical view of space. It addresses the processes of change that physical environments and spaces undergo in three dimensions: political, social, and economic. In this approach, students analyze complex spatial situations—unstable and temporary spaces, spaces of disaster, border, and conflict—in which barriers, violence, inequality, and various forms of exclusion develop. The works seek to support the ability of individuals, groups, and communities to renew and rebuild their relationships with the physical environments in which they live and operate. Identifying the potentials within the space serves as a basis for formal and aesthetic formulation.
