Dr. Orit Shmueli

Dr. Orit Shmueli is an architect and partner in a Haifa-based architectural practice. She graduated with honors from the Faculty of Architecture and Town Planning at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology (2000) and holds a Ph.D. in Urban Design from the Technion (2016). Her doctoral research, "ThickCity" explored the experiential qualities of high-density urban environments through the study of the city centers of Mumbai and Delhi, India, and Jerusalem, Israel.
In 2017, she co-founded an architecture and urban design practice with architect Ela Sar. The office specializes in urban renewal, emphasizing the quality of the public realm across multiple scales. Its major projects include the renewal master plan for Nahariya, detailed urban renewal plans, and tactical urbanism initiatives.
Since 2008, Orit has been a lecturer and studio instructor at the Faculty of Architecture and Town Planning at the Technion. She teaches courses in urban design, including basic urban design studio, advanced urban design studio, and Introduction to Urban Design.
