This study focuses on the outdoor spaces of mosques and their use in the city of Baqa al-Gharbiyye. Currently, there is a shortage of open spaces in Arab communities, and the outdoor spaces of mosques have the potential to address this issue. The study examined the reasons for the underutilization of these spaces, the attitudes and decisions of key individuals who determine the planning of mosque outdoor spaces, and the residents’ attitudes toward activities in these spaces. To this end, a survey was conducted among 511 residents, 16 interviews were conducted with key individuals, and observations of mosques were made. The survey found that residents prefer religious activities in the outdoor spaces, followed by social activities. The interviews revealed that most religious leaders support spiritual, social, and educational activities in the mosque’s outdoor spaces, such as Quran study, sports, education, recycling corners, social gatherings, and more. The observations showed that residents are interested in a pleasant and inviting outdoor space for visitors of all ages and genders. The study’s benefit lies in promoting planning changes for the outdoor spaces of mosques.
