First Prize to D.DLab team Perla Armaly, Ashish Jain and Asst. Prof. Shany Barath at the Technion Resnick Catalysis Center Pomegranate Hackathon

Disrupt.Design Lab team; Asst. Prof. Shany Barath, alongside her students — Ph.D. candidate Perla Armaly and M.Sc. candidate Ashish Jain won first prize at the Technion’s Resnick Catalysis Center Pomegranate Hackathon with POMWOOD. The winning proposal introduced a 3D-printed biocomposite made from wood and pomegranate peel waste, harnessing the peel’s natural antimicrobial and fire-retardant properties. The project was developed through a rich interdisciplinary collaboration with PIs and students from five faculties, including chemistry, biotechnology and food engineering, and civil engineering.
