מקונבנציונאלי לאקספרימנטלי – תיעוש ודיור לציבור הרחב : כנס דוקומומו ישראל – גרמניה.
הארכיטקטורה של מגורים לציבור הרחב חייבת רבות לבנייה מתועשת, הן מבחינת הרעיונות החברתיים והן מבחינת עקרונות עיצוביים. למרות זאת, נראה כי ההיסטוריה של התיעוש, כמו גם יחסי הגומלין בינו לבין רעיונות אדריכליים מודרניסטיים והפצתם, נותרו בשולי הדיון האקדמי. ייתכן והדבר נובע מכך שהמחקר בדרך-כלל אינו דן במקרי מבחן אדריכליים הנחשבים לדוגמא ומופת של בנייה מתועשת, בעוד היבטים אחרים של תיעוש נדונים בתחומי ההנדסה ולא ההיסטוריה.
כנס זה מבקש לחקור את הקשר שבין תיעוש ודיור להמונים ברחבי העולם. ההרצאה הפותחת ושבעה-עשר המאמרים של הכנס מציגים מחקרים חדשניים, המעמיקים את הבנתנו אודות הקשר המהותי בין מהפכנות בתיעוש, המאפיינת את העידן המודרני, לבין עיצוב מרחבי המגורים לציבור הרחב במאה העשרים.
